Our Mission
The Frontier Village Foundation
is a ministry of the Mountain States Mennonite Conference. Our mission
is to manage the foundation’s assets so that profits can be used to
provide grants to churches and community-based organizations working to
meet human need at a local level within the Rocky Mountain Region.
Our Philosophy
The philosophy of Frontier
Village Foundation is grounded in the words of Jesus: "…For I was
hungry, and you gave me food; I was thirsty and you gave me drink; I was
a stranger and you took me in; I was naked and you clothed me; I was
sick and you visited me; I was in prison and you came to me." Matthew
25: 35-36
FVF affirms the worth of all people and
believes each person has the right to a life of physical, emotional and
spiritual well-being, marked by dignity and respect. It is to that end
that FVF hopes to contribute.
FVF History
The history of Frontier Village
Foundation began in the early 1950’s when Rocky Mountain Mennonite Camp
began a program to meet needs of adolescents completing requirements of
Colorado’s juvenile justice system. A summer camping program grew to a
full time facility in Larkspur, Colorado called Frontier Boys Village.
In 1978, Frontier Boys Village closed
its doors. The property was sold and used to create the Frontier Village
Foundation. A base fund of $450,000, socially responsible investments,
and continuing contributions have allowed the legacy to live on.
Since 1990, the Foundation has made
dozens of grants to churches and community-based organizations
throughout the Rocky Mountain region.
FVF has provided grants to
initiatives addressing needs such as:
Food, Shelter and Clothing
Community Building
Preschool and Childcare Services
Geriatric and Medical Services
Victim/Offender Reconciliation
Conflict Resolution
Adult Education and Life Skills Training
Education for Second Language Learners
How You Can Help
